Shoppers rush to Tunbridge Wells charity shop after a woman donates 50k worth of designer clothes

PART of the fun of hunting for style steals in a charity shop is sifting through tons of tat before stumbling on something really special. Right?

Well now one Tunbridge Wells charity shop has been lucky enough to receive over £50,000 worth of designer clobber - and it includes luxury labels such as Gucci, Prada and one of Meghan Markle's favourite designers Erdem.

Staff at the Mind charity shop in Tunbridge Wells, Kent were left stunned when they received the bumper donation from a very generous regular customer.

From Prada skirts and Chloe handbags, this £50,000 worth of clothes also includes a Gucci wool coat and Rupert Sanderson shoes.

Plus, a stunning Mulberry dress - which originally cost £900 - has gone on sale for just £425 in the Kent charity shop.

What's more, savvy shoppers can also get a taste of Meghan Markle's wardrobe thanks to a £1,180 silk skirt by one of the Duchess' favourite brands Erdem which is being sold for £245.

The Duchess of Sussex chose a emerald green dress by the Canadian designer for a Commonwealth Day event at Canada House earlier this year.

Although staff at the charity shop believe the generous donation was originally worth over £50,000, they are hoping to raise around £15,000 for the nationwide mental health charity.

Better still, many of the luxury items still have their original price tags on and have never even been worn.

Store manager Alison Homewood - who has worked for Mind for more than 14 years - said: "It's fantastic to get all this stuff, it has just caused a huge interest.

"It's amazing. We are really, really busy but we are not complaining."

Since the Mind charity shop opened in Tunbridge Wells 20 years ago, it has raised more than £2million for the charity.

The generous woman who previously owned all the designer clobber is said to be a regular customer in the store.

Alison added: "The items came in at the end of last week - it is a regular donor and she donates stuff to us on a regular basis."

Although the shop manager is thankful for the generous and high-profile designer donation, she does not want to detract from the everyday items they receive which most contribute to the shop's success.

She said: "It is exciting to see these glamorous, high fashion items.

"But it is always exciting to look in any bag because you never know what you will find and more importantly, it is more money for the charity.

"We treat every donor the same. It doesn't mater if they are dropping off one item or 100 items, we are always grateful."
