AFTER being left frustrated with the sight of their boiler in the kitchen, one person took it upon themselves to build a cupboard to hide it.
The DIY newbie took to social media to show off the results of their hard work as they posted two photos.

In one snap, viewers could see the cupboard with the doors closed, which fit perfectly into the space by the wall.
A second photo showed the two doors open, with the bottom section hiding the boiler inside it, while the top was an extra cupboard for storage.
In the caption of the Facebook post, which appeared in the group DIY On a Budget UK, they wrote: “I posed a few weeks ago asking for advice on boxing in my boiler.
“I tried the suggestions about a kitchen cupboard, but couldn't find anything the correct size”.

Instead of looking any further, they decided to take the job on themselves using just MDF and explained exactly how they managed to build the cupboard.
They continued: “I gave up and decided to make it myself, using wood from the local woodyard and had them cut the big panels.
“And then cut the door myself afterwards.
“I also wanted it slightly off the ground but kitchen cab feet were too big, so I used doorstops which were perfect,” followed by a crying with laughter emoji.

They went on to share that the cupboard is fixed to the wall behind and insisted it’s “very sturdy”.
“Painted with dulux satinwood white, only 1 coat inside as need the paint for another project and not necessary inside,” they went on.
“Never done any kind of wood working before, but a good learning experience (should have used lighter wood for doors) but happy with result. All in approx £85 for everything”.
And people flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts as many were impressed with their hard work.
“That is so good. Well done,” one person wrote as another shared: “Great job,” followed by a thumbs up emoji.
“Well done, very satisfying to get a result like that,” a third person shared.
While the cupboard was deemed to look “professionally done”, there are some restrictions when it comes to hiding boilers in cupboards = that people need to be aware of.
The boiler must be easily accessible for servicing and repairs. You need to have at least 700mm space between the front of the boiler and the kitchen cupboard door to allow ventilation.
This also prevents congestion in the cupboard as sometimes there can be a build up of carbon monoxide.

The boiler system needs to be small enough to fit into the cupboard and the space needs to meet the required fire safety standards, too.
Do your research before trying to hide any boiler in order to prevent any kind of issues in the future.
