The 13 Best Bamboo Sheets of 2024, Tested and Reviewed

Bamboo is an increasingly popular bedding fabric, and for good reason. The material is not only incredibly soft but also sustainable and cooling. And if you've ever experienced the breathability and softness of bamboo sheets, it's hard to give any other cooling sheets a chance. Now more than ever, we're looking to cool down while we sleep, and bamboo sheets can help you do just that.

Textile expert Deborah Young says bamboo sheets are also naturally antimicrobial, meaning they don't harbor bacteria. "Bacteria causes odor," she says. "If you have an antibacterial sheet, you have no odor."

We tested over 30 sets of bamboo bed sheets and narrowed our list to the comfiest, most breathable, eco-friendly options that hold up well in the wash. Whether you're a hot sleeper or just enjoy an incredibly soft sheet set, we feel confident you'll love our picks.

Pros
  • These sheets have a silky-soft feel with a subtle shine.

  • They are cool to the touch and breathable.

  • The fabric is durable with nice stitching and resists wear and tear.

Earning perfect scores in nearly all our tests, Bampure is our number one pick. We were impressed with these sheets right out of the box, notably the silky-soft texture, subtle shine from the sateen weave, and cool-to-the-touch feel. The construction seemed durable and well-made, too, with really nice stitching. A stretchy, deep-pocket fitted sheet makes it easy to make the bed, and an extra flap on the pillowcases offers a tidy, tucked-in look — all the qualities you'd expect in premium bed sheets.

These bed sheets are exceptionally breathable and don't seem to warm up from body heat — a hallmark of cooling sheets. They held up really well in the wash, with no visible signs of wear and tear or shrinkage. While the fabric was slightly wrinkly after laundering, there aren't as many creases as other natural materials like cotton, and it seems to get even softer with every wash.

According to the brand, these sheets are woven from organic bamboo-derived viscose. Though it doesn't mention a specific organic certification, they're Oeko-Tex certified to ensure chemical safety. All things considered, we think the price is more than reasonable for such a high-quality set.

Pros
  • These sheets are silky-smooth but not slick or slippery.

  • They have a luxuriously soft feel.

  • They are consistently cool and breathable.

Cozy Earth has Oprah's stamp of approval, and we're here for it. The quality of these splurge-worthy sheets was apparent right out of the packaging. They're silky-smooth but not in a "slide off everything" kind of way, and they have a nice subtle sheen that catches the light.

This bamboo sheet set felt immediately cool to the touch. The fabric felt breathable while lying in bed and remained cool after a few minutes. What's more, the material was just as soft — maybe even softer — after we ran the sheets through the wash, with no loose seams in sight. There were some slight wrinkles, but they smoothed out by hand pretty well. These are undoubtedly expensive, but if you can swing the price, we think they're worth the investment. When it comes to buying sheets online, you can't go wrong with these.

Pros
  • These sheets are soft to the touch and consistently smooth.

  • They feel cool and breathable.

  • We did not observe any damage or shrinkage after washing.

Bamboo bed linens can be expensive, but Cosy House Collection makes a great budget option. Out of the packaging, these sheets were soft to the touch, without any visible defects. While the fitted sheet was a little snug, it has elastic on the sides to keep it in place. (The brand says it's 16 inches deep, but we're skeptical and think it may not work on a thicker mattress.)

We loved how consistently smooth the fabric is. It felt cool and breathable while we lay down, though it got slightly warmer after a few minutes. The sheets appeared to be in good condition after washing, with no noticeable shrinkage or loose threads. We also like that they come in 13 colors, and the price is incredible.

Pros
  • These sheets remain consistently cool, so they’re good for hot sleepers.

  • They have a silky-smooth and soft texture.

  • They’re an excellent value; they are affordable and high-quality.

Calling all hot sleepers! California Design Den's bamboo sheets are extremely cool to the touch and remain cool throughout the night. They're an excellent choice for warm summer months, humid climates, and those prone to year-round night sweats. We were all-around impressed with the quality and think they'll help us get a decent night's sleep. And they’re available in just about any size (excluding twin and twin XL).

The bamboo-derived rayon fabric is insanely soft, silky-smooth, and luxurious. It looks and feels sturdy and held up well enough in the wash, save for a few loose threads. The fitted sheet and pillowcases were a good fit too. In the end, we think the price is a steal.

Pros
  • These sheets are super-soft with a substantial, weighty feel.

  • The fabric stays cool and wicks away moisture.

  • The sheets resist pilling, stains, and fading.

We liked the super-soft and slightly weighty feel of these bamboo sheets from Amazon. The texture was great right out of the packaging, and it didn't seem to change at all after being washed. Though it was really easy to get the deep fitted sheet over the mattress, it was actually slightly too big. The fabric bunched up a bit, but it stayed in place when we slept on it. Also, the top and fitted sheets stuck together when we made the bed, which made it kind of tricky to get things even on all sides.

These sheets appear to wick away moisture and do a decent job of staying cool. While oil left a small mark, the coffee and foundation came out completely during our stain test. Not only that, but the fabric held up really well when we rubbed sandpaper on it. Considering the durability, performance, and overall quality, this set is an excellent deal.

Pros
  • These sheets are cool yet weighty, so they’re ideal for year-round use.

  • They have an absorbent fabric that wicks away sweat.

  • The sheets maintained a soft, smooth texture, even with continued use.

Cons
  • We noticed a few stray threads right out of the packaging.

  • Some of the substances we tested left stains on the sheets.

  • This set of sheets slides around on the mattress a bit.

We noticed a few stray threads out of the packaging, but otherwise, these sheets seemed all-around well-made. The fabric has a soft, smooth feel and a medium weight. Water dispersed immediately during our absorbency tests, so you can bet it'll wick away sweat while you doze. Though we were able to get the oil and coffee stains out, the foundation left a visible mark during our stain-resistance test.

The fitted sheet went on easily and fit snuggly, so it didn't slip off while we slept. These bed sheets seem to do a good job of regulating body temperature. They cool down quickly and never feel too warm, but at the same time, the slightly weighty feel makes them a good choice for year-round use. In the end, we think the price is reasonable for such a high-quality, versatile set.

How they've held up:

We used these sheets for a few months at home and are pleased to report the texture and quality seem to be just as good as on day one. One thing to note is that, unlike the Cozy Earth set, the top and fitted sheet slide around on the mattress during the night. And although you might still need air conditioning (or at least a good fan) during the hot season, we still think this set is a great choice for year-round use.

Pros
  • These temperature-regulating sheets have a cold feel.

  • The sheets have a smooth texture and subtle sheen.

  • They launder well and soften over time.

If you have a thicker mattress or use a topper, go with Luxome. The brand's bamboo-derived viscose Luxury Sheet Set includes a 17-inch-deep fitted sheet. While it doesn't have top-bottom tags indicating how to position it, the extra-deep design is ultimately easy to get on. There was plenty of room for the mattress inside the fitted sheet when we made the bed. Unlike other brands, the top and bottom of the fitted sheet are not marked on this set.

The sateen weave makes for a smooth texture. And although these sheets aren't as soft as others off the bat, they launder well and soften with every wash. We were also impressed by the cooling capability. When they're on the bed, these sheets feel noticeably cold. If you're in the market for temperature-regulating sheets that are easy to fit over a mattress, we say go for it.

Pros
  • These sheets have a sumptuously smooth and silky weave.

  • The quality of this set is high-end with a hotel-like feel.

  • The sheets maintain a cool feel throughout the night.

"Sateen sheets have a lustrous face and a matte back, with a softer drape than percale," says textile expert Saana Baker. If you're a fan of the sumptuously smooth weave, The Company Store might be your best bet. These amazingly luxurious sheets are reminiscent of five-star hotel bedding. They're extremely silky and comfortable to sleep or relax in.

They're also cool to the touch and maintain this comfortable temperature, even with multiple dogs snuggling up and a laptop computer running on top. We noticed some minor loose threads and slight shrinking after laundering these sheets, but the fitted sheet and pillowcases still fit just fine. The price is a bit high, but you shouldn't hesitate to buy them if they're on sale.

Pros
  • These sheets are temperature-regulating so they’re good for hot sleepers.

  • The fabric is super breathable and sweat-wicking.

  • They held up well in the wash, with no visible damage.

My Sheets Rock bamboo sheets come in several tasteful hues, ranging from crisp white to rich burgundy to classic navy. But that's not the only thing we love about them. While the low thread count makes them somewhat thin, the lightweight material is super breathable, promising to wick away sweat and remain comfortably cool throughout the night.

These sheets came out beautifully from the wash. They were still soft and bright, without any loose threads or other visible damage. Though there was some minor wrinkling, it smoothed out once we made the bed. The price is a little steep for such a thin material, but in the end, we were satisfied with the temperature-regulating design and overall quality.

Pros
  • This set is light and breezy so it’s great for summer.

  • The sheets are very breathable and moisture-wicking.

  • They’re made with a durable fabric that gets softer over time.

Cons
  • We noticed some loose threads, but the sheets still appear well-made.

  • They are only available in limited sizes.

Crafted from 60 percent linen and 40 percent bamboo-derived rayon, you can count on these sheets to be naturally breathable with moisture-wicking properties. While we noticed a few loose threads, they seemed sturdy and well-made at first glance. We were big fans of the lightweight and soft feel and think they'd be a stellar choice for summer.

Unlike sateen, the plain square weave lends to a soft, matte texture and an easy-breezy elegance. The durable and flexible material also makes it easy to make the bed. These sheets didn't appear to shrink in the wash, and we expect them to get softer over time. They only come in two sizes (queen and king), and the price is a little steep, but if they're on sale, we say go for it.

Pros
  • This set is well-made with reliable stitching.

  • The material is breathable and wicks away sweat.

  • They fit perfectly so it was easy to make the bed.

Cons
  • The fabric is on the thin side, so it may tear easily.

  • This set is only available in white, so it is prone to staining.

Out of the packaging, these sheets seemed well-made with reliable stitching. We loved how the light, breathable fabric felt cool to the touch and stayed consistently cool while lying on it. It also passed our absorbency test, so you can count on it to wick away sweat while you sleep. The fitted sheet fit easily — we were able to get it over the mattress without any issues, and it stayed in place through tossing and turning.

Since the material is relatively thin with a lower thread count, it seems like it'll tear easily and may not hold up very well in the wash. The other thing to note is that these sheets stain easily, and since they only come in white, various substances will definitely leave a mark. Still, we think the overall quality is decent and would recommend them to anyone in the market for lightweight bedding.

How they've held up:

After a few months of at-home use, we're still loving the soft, cool-to-the-touch feel of these sheets. Though the fabric is pretty thin, the texture and overall quality didn't seem to change with continued use.

Pros
  • These sheets are lightweight and cool, so they’re good for hot climates.

  • This set resists fading, tearing, pilling, and shrinking.

  • The fitted sheet is deep, so it’s good for thicker mattresses.

If you're looking for bedding that stands up to wear and tear and lasts at least a few years, this set won't let you down. Unlike most other sheets we tested, none of the substances we spread on the fabric (coffee, oil, and foundation) left a stain. And when we ran sandpaper over the surface, barely any lint came off, and there was no visible difference in the texture.

These lightweight, cool-to-the-touch bed sheets are ideal for summertime and hot climates. While they felt slightly coarse at first, they became softer over time. The deep fitted sheet was very easy to get on, even with a thicker mattress. Unfortunately, this is one of the wrinkliest bamboo sets we tried, so the fabric may never be entirely smooth when you make the bed. All things considered, we think the price is reasonable for such a durable design.

How they've held up:

After a few months of at-home use with weekly washes, the texture of these sheets was about the same. We haven't noticed any fading, shrinkage, tearing, pilling, or other visible signs of wear and tear, either. They still wrinkle really easily, so you'll want to avoid leaving them in the dryer or a laundry basket for too long.

  • They include an extra-deep fitted sheet, so they’re good for thick mattresses.

Cons
  • We noticed some loose threads out of the box.

  • The brand uses inexact sizing, which could result in excess fabric.

We also liked this set from Simply Organic. While we noticed a few loose threads upon taking these sheets out of the box, they appear to be of good quality and have an immediate soft and silky feel. The incredibly breathable and lightweight material is an excellent choice for summer use or year-round hot sleepers.

Despite the loose threads, these bed sheets held up well in the wash too. The only other thing to note is that a couple of the sizes are inexact (twin/twin XL and full/queen), which could result in excess fabric, depending on the size you get. Still, the 18-inch-deep fitted sheet makes it easy to make the bed.

Things to Consider Before Buying Bamboo Sheets

Material

When shopping around for bamboo sheets, you'll see options made of bamboo-derived viscose, like our top pick Bampure Bamboo Sheets, and bamboo-derived rayon, like those from California Design Den. The materials are nearly identical, though viscose is sourced from bamboo pulp, and rayon comes from cellulose.

Both viscose and rayon are generally cooling and naturally moisture-wicking. You'll also find fabric blends, which can enhance breathability and durability, as with the Kassatex Linen-Bamboo Sheet Set.

Weave

Bamboo sheets typically feature either a sateen weave or a plain square weave. The former uses a four-over, one-under threading pattern, and the latter follows a basic one-thread-over, one-under pattern.

"There is no quality difference between the two; they simply cater to different tastes," says Baker. "Sateen is a denser structure, so more threads are needed, and this is reflected in higher thread counts." Sateen bed sheets also often have a silky-smooth feel and a subtle sheen, whereas a plain square weave will offer a matte finish.

Certifications

Young recommends looking for the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification when buying bamboo bedding. She explains that some brands may use harsh chemicals to soften the fabric, and this label ensures it's free of over 100 potentially harmful substances.

Organic bamboo sheets may also have an Ecocert certification. This tells you the farming and manufacturing process adhered to strict standards, keeping soil fertility and living ecosystems in mind.

How We Tested Bamboo Sheets

Our editors selected 22 sets of bamboo sheets to try firsthand and then we did an additional round of testing with eight more. We first inspected the quality out of the box, noting the look, feel, and any visible flaws. Next, we made the bed to assess the fit and see how the fabric smoothed out. We also evaluated how the sheets felt against our skin, whether they had a cooling quality, and how long they maintained a low temperature once in contact with body heat. Finally, we laundered them to check for shrinkage, wrinkling, and loose threads.

The sheets were also used at home for a few months and washed regularly to see how they held up in a real-life, long-term setting. Each set received a score for quality, texture, breathability, and durability, and those with the highest overall ratings were featured in this roundup.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What type of bamboo sheet is best?

The best bamboo sheets are ultra-soft, smooth, and breathable, with durable construction that holds up well over time. According to our tests, Bampure Organic Bamboo Sheets check all the boxes and then some. They're made of bamboo-derived viscose and carry an Oeko-Tex certification.

  • Is there such a thing as 100% bamboo sheets?

Yes, 100 percent bamboo sheets exist. They're usually made of bamboo-derived viscose (from the pulp of the plant) or bamboo-derived rayon (from cellulose). That said, bamboo bedding fabrics are often blended with other textiles, such as linen or cotton, to enhance breathability or reduce the price.

  • Which bamboo sheets did Oprah recommend?

Cozy Earth has made its way onto Oprah's highly coveted annual list of favorite things more than once. The brand's bamboo sheets made the cut multiple years in a row, but Oprah isn't the only celebrity who stands behind them. Hillary Duff, Nina Dobrev, and Mandy Moore are also Cozy Earth fans.
